Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Durieux was born an February 27, 1959 in Paris.
\nHe studied at the Conservatory of music in Paris (CNSMDP) where he won the First Prize of Analysis in 1984 \u2013 class of Betsy Jolas \u2013 and, in 1986, the First Prize of Composition \u2013 class of Ivo Malec.
\nHe completed his studies at the IRCAM between 1985 and 1986.
\nFrom 1987 to 1989 he has received a scholarship at Villa Medici in Rome.<\/p>\n

Since 1985, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Durieux reveived many commissions for new Works and his pieces are played in Europe, in the United States and in Japan. He cooporated with the Ensemble InterContemporain, Linea, 2e2m, L\u2019Itin\u00e9raire, IRCAM, Remix Ensemble (Portugal), the KamarEnsembleN (Swenden), MusicLab (England), Ensemble Talea (USA), Ensemble Prometeo, Ensemble Divertimento (Italia), Quatuor Diotima (France), The Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestra Nazionale delle RAI Torino, etc. His scores have been played by great directors as Peter E\u00f6tv\u00f6s, Pierre Boulez, Franck Ollu, Myung Whun Chung & Tito Ceccherini.<\/p>\n

Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Durieux teached analysis at the Conservatory of Music in Paris (CNSMDP) from 1990 to 2001. In 2001 he becomes teacher of composition for the same institution.<\/p>\n

Officier des Arts & Lettres, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Durieux received the Prize of the musical composition of the Foundation Prince Pierre de Monaco in 2005 for his work \u00ab Traverses 1, 2 & 3 \u00bb for full orchestra.<\/p>\n

Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Durieux give master classes in many conservatory and universities : Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milano, Haute Ecole de Musique in Geneva, Musikhoschule of Berlin (UdK and Hanns Eisler), Munich, Weimar and Vienna, G\u00f6tteborg University, Guildhall school of music and drama in London, Shanghai Conservatory, Kutinachi University in Tokyo, etc.<\/p>\n
