Following flute studies in Bologna and Modena, Matteo Cesari pursued with Mario Caroli at the Strasbourg Conservatoire obtaining a 1st prize and a Master. He’s at present a doctoral student at the Conservatoire in Paris, studying with Sophie Cherrier, and pursuing research at the University Paris IV Sorbonne.
Matteo Cesari has won numerous awards and scholarships including the Kranichsteiner Musikpreis in Darmstadt.
He has performed with various ensembles like Itinéraire (Paris) or the Nieuw Ensemble (Amsterdam) and he worked with leading contemporary artist like Pierre Boulez, Barbara Hannigan, Peter Eötvös, Salvatore Sciarrino, Ivan Fedele, Brian Ferneyhough, Stefano Gervasoni, Bruno Mantovani and Michael Finnissy.
